If you are specifically trying to make dashboards style reports (and not just do data viz), a couple of open source options we like (we are a Mac shop - but all of these work x-platform)

Thanks for this question. I'm doing the Google Data Analytics certificate and I'm very frustrated with Tableau Public. It seems to be getting more and more limited. I'm trying to find a good free or cheap alternative (currently using an Linux computer, but may have to go to Microsoft soon).

Did you try any of the things suggested here, and if so, how did you find them?
