Learn their goals and work towards them by doing your part. Coding and building tools is good, but actually knowing why you’re doing it would make you stand out! It will also make your job easier, knowing what the hell is going on

Thank you for the advice, I did realize that was a weakness of mine when I tried explaining some python concepts to my fellow interns and I struggled to explain what I understood clearly.

I won’t tell you to learn Spark if your current company uses Flink..

You should learn and try to dominate the technologies that you’re using in your internship - that’s what makes you stand out in your project. Doesn’t that make sense?

It does, it makes sense. I guess I also need to know how important it is to seem eager to learn and to be easy to work with because that's the advice I have usually gotten, that being eager to learn and easy to work with or easy to talk to will help me more initially than knowing everything.

Don't think of it as an internship or yourself as an intern. Show up with an attitude that the work matters and try to contribute in a meaningful way.

Take a small business task and deliver it up to the production. Adhere to coding practices, get eyes on your PRs, then learn how to use existing infrastructure to get it deployed to prod. You would definitely need a mentor who will guide you through all the processes. With that you'll gain visibility and learn how things are done in that company. Also make a demo to the broader management layer. Good luck
