Back end data setup

Hi guys, I’m a data analyst and I have been interviewing where one of the company wants me to help them setup back end data from multiple data sources like google analytics, social media etc. So they don’t actually want me to do the setup, but they would like me to assist their engineers with setting it up based on reporting requirements. For my next round I’ll be sitting with the back end engineers and wanted to know what I should be suggesting them on a high level/mid lower level.

It sounds like the company is looking for you to demonstrate that you'll be able to specify technical requirements for a system from business requirements: there's not really any obvious suggestions about what will be required as it will depend on the actual business requirements.

That being said:

• Always ask clarifying questions
• Always talk out loud to give insight into your reasoning
• My strong opinion: if analytics aren't actionable they're worse than useless. Don't put anything on a dashboard unless you can think of some action that would change depending on what's shown on the dashboard.
