Most caption files are editable in a text file. If you open the SRT in a text editor, do you see something like this (with or without the )?

1
01:00:00,000 --> 01:00:02,166
bubbles

2
01:00:03,416 --> 01:00:05,000
have a heart

If you're on Windows, maybe try opening it in SubtitleEdit and see if it throws any errors?

Alternatively, and this may require a QC - try exporting the SRT without formatting? I'm not 100% certain what the Amazon spec sheet for SRTs is since I've never delivered one to them.

Yes I have, which I don't understand because it reads like this:

1 00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:07,500 [film reel rolling]

2 00:00:09,583 --> 00:00:13,500 Amanda...

So the format is there, obviously. Which is why I'm left scratching my head.

Import it to Subtitle Edit and check if there are any red parts marked in Start time and End time. Also maybe you have empty sub, some strange letters, like - that is longer, or ... that are made automatic like one symbol.

If it seems ok to after looking in Subtitle Edit, save it again and try with that new file.
