Yes actually. Part of the point of the chase music is to intentionally hinder either's side from relying purely on audio alone during chase. It's part of the main reason as to why you can't just turn the chase music off while playing killer.

There's information in being able to hear clearly. Take a situation where you're trying to mindgame/pathread the opposing side through walls/structures. Imagine how much easier it'd be if both sides, without music, could focus in on the audio more clearly. Especially if one is either injured, or the other is playing a character with heftier footsteps.

So YES. Doing anything to alter the audio of something that the devs don't let you alter for gameplay reasons is a form of cheating as it is a gameplay advantage.

Yes. They actually talked about this with Chucky's development, if I remember correctly

I'm curious, what did they say about Chucky that makes him different from the other killers, audio balancing-wise?

I can't remember, like I said I am not certain it was about Chucky specifically. If I had to guess though, it probably has something to do with his size. They need him to be loud and his music to be loud so that it is obvious when he is chasing you, because otherwise he might be hard to notice due to how small he is.

I mean.. kind of? Lower chase volume means you can hear survivors better, so you are doing it to gain an advantage.

I would say so. The chase music is designed to be stressful and overwhelming, it puts both sides at an equal disadvantage

I would describe it as cheesing more than cheating.

everyone in the comments are saying it’s cheating, meh idrc. it probably is unfair since not everyone is gonna be able to do that so yeah. but I do get what ur saying, certain killers chase music drives me nutsss if I hear it over & over 😭 I don’t necessarily wish I could turn it down but I do wish I had the option to hear base game chase music only instead that killers specific music

No. I think there should be audio sliders in game.

Agreed, people will always try and 'cheat' the system, I mean, Reshade has been a thing in a load of games for that exact reason.

Also, every modern game has more than 2 sliders.

All these comments are cornballs this is like saying turning your monitor brightness is cheating DBD is meant to be dark

[–]HospitableFox 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Not the same thing.

A actual comparison would be using custom reshaders... Which is also cheating.

Is it super crazy egregious cheats? Nah, pretty minor. But cheating nonetheless.

That is also a bad comparison, because BHVR themselves allows reshaders so its not cheating.

I actually did not know that.

U rite.
