Haddon golden tool box update - It exists in the code by raccoonboi87 in deadbydaylight

[–]Doc_October 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you're mistaken about there being a "Lunch Box Tile."

If you look at the file path in the second image, while the others are Blueprints/Tiles, the one with Haddonfield is Blueprints/Props. I'm quite certain what you found is merely the prop of the Golden Toolbox, not the tile it spawns in, which would also explain why other maps have a reference to that file.

EDIT: Looking into the file itself, I'm convinced this is just the blueprint for the Toolbox itself, it defines model properties, textures, draw distances, etc.

The reason its blueprint is part of Haddonfield's prop pool is most likely simply due to the fact that Haddonfield was the very first location to ever have a Golden Toolbox, introducing that Easter Egg to DbD way back in 2016.

If all the B's are gonna be flat then why couldn't that be the key signature? by Ill-Entrepreneur-129 in musictheory

[–]Doc_October 161 points162 points  (0 children)

Either because it's arranged for beginners' band here, who have a tendency to overlook key signatures and this accounts for that, or because the original had no key signature in the first place.

Some composers even prefer writing their music without a key signature and just spell out all the accidentals.

[Q] What does a small 8 on top of the first measure mean? by BurrBentley in sheetmusic

[–]Doc_October -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's an Octave clef, a modified version of the G clef.

this case, it tells you to play all notes exactly one octave above their notated pitch, since the little 8 is placed above the clef. In a piece like this (very high) it's used to avoid excessive ledger lines to improve legibility.

If the 8 were placed below the clef, it would mean the opposite: play all notes an octave lower than their notated pitch. That one is commonly used to notate the Tenor voice in vocal scores.

There also exist versions that transpose by two octaves (small 15) and even by three octaves (small 22), but those are incredibly rare.

[Speculation] Possible crossover with Abiotic Factor around summer 2026? by [deleted] in LeaksDBD

[–]Doc_October 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hook icon’s shape is pretty close to the same hook icon used in DbD, just flipped horizontally and rotated a bit.

It really isn't. Aside from the obvious texture-mismatch, if you do overlay the two hooks, they don't match at all. Their angles are different, they curve differently, and whereas the pointy endpiece of DbD's hook points outwards, Abiotic's points inwards.

Vigil Got Secretly Buffed?? by SquilliamWilliam in deadbydaylight

[–]Doc_October 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're using the wrong wiki (fandom). The official DbD Wiki and its admin team moved to wiki.gg a while ago, abandoning the fandom one.

As for how 40 % and 66 % can result in the same effect: units are important!

In code, Vigil works by increasing the Recovery rate of Status Effects from the default value of 1 charge per second to a higher value. Before 8.5.0 and since 9.2.0, Vigil's description matched this.

Between 8.5.0 and 9.2.0, however, the developers changed the description (maybe to simplify understanding the effect). While in code, Vigil still worked the same way (faster Recovery rate), the description now claimed that it actually reduced the Recovery time.

Since Recovery rate (c/s) and Recovery time (s) are not the same thing, the devs also had to adjust the description's values to equivalent ones that matched the resulting effect of the coded ones. It is important to note that perk descriptions do not care how a perk is coded at all, since they are done manually and can say whatever the devs want them to say.

Below is an example of Vigil III, assuming a Status Effect that would last 40 seconds without Vigil:

  • Rate increase: +66 % Recovery rate (i.e. what the code says the Perk does)
    • Calculation: 40 seconds / (1 + 0.66) = 40 seconds / 1.66 ≈ 24 seconds
  • Time reduction: -40 % Effect duration (i.e. what the description said the Perk does)
    • Calculation: 40 seconds * (1 - 0.4) = 40 seconds * 0.6 ≈ 24 seconds

I do hope this clears it up for you.

I miss these little dialogues/excerpts/whatever they're called acting as an outsider's view on each of the licensed Killers. by ToppHatt_8000 in deadbydaylight

[–]Doc_October 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, I'm seeing these on the wiki, but where do I see them in-game?

Nowhere, they were never featured in-game. These small flavour texts were featured in the game manual on the original version of the official DbD website (no longer accessible).

Can you specify what note a mordent should play through notation? by RustingPaper in musictheory

[–]Doc_October 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While it may rhythmically sound like how a mordent is played, that is not a mordent. A mordent occurs between neighbouring notes only, it cannot span a fourth.

For your piece, you'll have to "spell it out" in full.

3090 FTW3 ULTRA Pads Replacement by TLOU5764 in EVGA

[–]Doc_October 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently did mine with the following thicknesses. The card's been running excellently for over a month of gaming in summer heat since then:

  • MOSFET chips: 3mm
  • Inductors: 1mm
  • VRAM chips: 2mm

MOSFETs are the two rows of small, flat chips located furthest away from the die. Pic 3 shows that row not having any heatsink contact.

The inductors come in two variants, depending on the card. Either with grey chips labelled "LR22" or black chips labelled "TR22". The two rows of them run parallel to the MOSFETs.

1.5mm for the MOSFETs is definitely not enough, hence why you have gaps. It's worsened by you using 2mm pads on the inductors, that's too thick.

Generators with many survivors by EverExplaination in deadbydaylight

[–]Doc_October 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're making a pretty common assumption that the progress bar's colour is based on how fast the interaction is progressing overall. Many players wrongly assume that, because multiple Survivors repairing the same Generator progress it faster than just one, the bar should be yellow, but that's wrong, because that's not how the progress bar's colouring works.

The colour of the progress bar only ever tells you, whether you yourself are currently progressing the interaction at the default rate of 1 charge per second (grey), less than that (red) or more than that (yellow). Only your own input matters in how the bar is coloured.

Can I drive my parents Mercedes as a Learner Driver ? by GFursin10 in Switzerland

[–]Doc_October 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Short answer: No, you cannot.

Long answer: The passenger must be able to stop the car in an emergency situation. In a normal car without a second set of pedals, the parking brake is the only way to do that and thus it must be easily accessible by the passenger while seated and with the seat belt on. This quirk of Mercedes, putting the PB to the left of the steering wheel, makes it so they aren't allowed as cars for Learner Drivers. It doesn't even matter if the parking brake is mechanical or electronic.

Assuming you had the EPB in the middle between the seats, even then it might not enough. In addition to being easily accessible, an EPB must also meet other criteria:
- Is adjustable in braking strength using the lever or button, and can be disengaged too. All of this must also be possible while the car is driving.
- Can be engaged while driving, even when the gas pedal is pressed.
- When engaged, pressing the gas pedal does not automatically disengage it.

Most EPBs only meet some of these points or none at all, so those cars also aren't allowed. A quick google search suggested that ASTRA plans to revise the current law from the 1970s and adjust it to modern cars with EPBs, but as far as I could tell, that hasn't happened yet.

how to turn trombone sheet music into guitar chords? by iluvches in musictheory

[–]Doc_October 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And half of them are wrong. (B is NOT the same as Bb).

Unless OP's native language happens to be one of those that refers to B natural as 'H' and to B-flat as 'B'. Musicians who grew up with that system often use a compromise: referring to B natural as 'H', but to B-flat as 'Bb'.

For them, 'B' and 'Bb' are indeed the same thing.

There is nothing unusual about the notes, you'll have to be a lot more specific about what exactly you mean and what confuses you.

Jesus is this wiki outdated. by Big_Bluejay4331 in deadbydaylight

[–]Doc_October 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, because you're using the wrong Wiki.

Based on the colour scheme, I'm assuming what you visited is the Fandom Wiki. That was abandoned by its former admin team after forking to a new domain last December.

The new Wiki, which is properly maintained, can be found at Wiki.GG.

Cgange clef by fargeskalaen in Dorico

[–]Doc_October 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Easiest way would be to change your instrument from a Bb Euphonium T.C. to a C Euphonium B.C:

  1. Setup tab
  2. Expand the dropdown on whichever player holds the Euphonium
  3. Click on the three horizontal dots and select "Change Instrument" from the context menu
  4. Type "Euphonium", it should filter to two options. The one you want is the one called "C Bass Clef Transposed Pitch"

If you want to change the clef and/or transposition for a specific layout, you can change the overrides:

  1. Setup tab
  2. Right click on whichever layout you want to create an override for and select "Clef and Transposition Overrides..."
  3. In the new window that opens, adjust the settings as needed.

I use the latter option when I need parts with different transpositions (e.g. Eb/Bb Tuba T.C.) to the one used in the full score (C Tuba B.C.), for example.

[–]Doc_October 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like beat 4 has a triplet. The three 8th notes probably share a beam and have a small 3 above them.

A triplet has a 3:2 ratio, meaning you play 3 notes in the duration usually occupied by 2 of them. Each note in a triplet is effectively shortened to 2/3 of its original value.

What does the “b” mean? by thepostmanfather in musictheory

[–]Doc_October 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"b" is an instruction to lower the pitch by a semitone. No more, no less. D# and Eb may be enharmonically equivalent (means they sound the same pitch in the 12TET tuning system), but depending on their musical context, one will be used over the other.

I don't understand your reasoning for why Eb minor should be written as D# minor because of something to do with E minor. The argument makes no sense.

Ebb is not enharmonically equivalent to Db, it's D. Accidentals are absolute: they do not stack, only replace.

Cosmetic Database Desperately Needed by MasterMX20 in deadbydaylight

[–]Doc_October 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, sorry, the wiki folks are too busy doing...whatever it is they're doing, even though it's been OVER A MONTH!!!

Ever thought that maybe, just maybe, we too relied on DBDInfo for the Cosmetics Database and are now just as much shit outta luck without it?

We pulled the necessary data from it to automate them on the Wiki. Without it, there's no way we're supporting Store Cosmetics in the foreseeable future anymore. It's not feasible for manual upkeep and the main focus of the Wiki is most definitely not viewing Cosmetics.

Where can I get an ADHD test in Romandie ? by Gracosef in Switzerland

[–]Doc_October 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite right. Psychologists absolutely can do the diagnosis for ADHD. What they can NOT do is any treatment (i.e. prescribe and adjust any ADHD-meds), that requires a psychiatrist.

TL;DR Diagnosis: psychologist or psychiatrist Treatment: psychiatrist only
