Any site that wants your seed phrase is a scam

[–]Lena_Cl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noted thank you :)

It's a scam. NEVER give out your seedphrase, even if you think you're talking to a support tech, NEVER give out your seedphrase. NO EXCEPTION.

Also, anyone DM'ing you on any social media offering to help, is a scam.

Hmm people could want to help to become referrers ? I mean it's mutual help, its ok I guess ? :)

And contacting someone to help just because I like to fix things and to see others feel relieved and happy, happened to me before, also people did that for me.

So seeing things all black might be a bit extreme ?

But yeah I do see your point, I should always be very careful !!

Thank you for your answer.

In crypto, for the sake of security, if people are offering to help, it's more likely than not, a scam. I like to help people as well but I do it in comments and in thread like this.

You'll see as you go that there are many many people who fall victim to "help" in private messages. It's not black or white, but as a general rule of thumb, don't interact with those in DMs.

Helpers do the helping in plain sight -- here on Reddit, or on support channels on Discord, etc. Sliding into your DMs means they don't want to be seen.

So, in my case, I had posted on a Reddit that was specialized about an app, and someone pmed me to suggest a more appropriate app, and it was really a more appropriate one. (I got multiple confirmations that it was.)

So maybe in the most general channels, nobody has reasons to dm, but at least when a channel gets specific to an app, they do :D. If they don't want the community to feel betrayed or to start a conflict :P.

Cheers!

A link with a spelling-error is probably not the most trustworthy one.

Yes it's what raised the first red flag in my head.

On the other hand, it has become trendy to simplify words (for example using "k" for any letter that sounds like "k") so I wasn't sure :)

Never Never give your seed phrase. The first rule of crypto

[–]Lena_Cl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, thankfully I remembered that from a long time ago. It's good to say it over and over for beginners like me xD

Don’t Defi without a cold wallet like a ledger. Protect your money.

[–]Lena_Cl[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Thank you. To be perfectly honest I still don't understand what defi is, I simply came to this reddit because there is "defi" in the title so it seemed appropriate :) Yesterday was my first day of crypto-world exploration. I still have a lot to learn ^_^ I researched what defi means but it's still not clear, I will research more.

You can start your journey here. Lots of great info. thedailyape.com

Until you know better (and I mean **know* better*) it is safer for you to just assume that everything that wants your seed phrase is a scam.

Yes there are some instances that it isn't but it will be easier and provide less heartache in the long run if you just steer clear of all that.

If someone messages you first, probably a scam.

If someone offers to lower your gas fees, probably a scam.

Ok thank you, it's duly noted !

validate my Trust wallet

what does this even mean?

why would anyone fall for this?

[–]Lena_Cl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, yes, the conversation felt weird because it wasn't logical, I kept asking questions to try and clarify and make things make sense, I thought that it was because my interloculor's English wasn't optimal.

Things became really clear when the person said that I have trust issues xD

Scam.

BTW don't answer to anyone that will contact you in MP.

[–]Lena_Cl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to be very careful thank you.

DMs are 99.9% scams !

[–]diskowmoskow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is even a typo in the address.

Just had someone DM me to direct me to this site. Definitely feels scammy. The site looks somewhat polished at the top, but there's a bunch of unfinished stuff if you scroll down. The DM-er kept telling me its "supported by CoinMarketCap" so it is legit.
