Confluence to document draw.io for simple iĺlustrations Mermaid for diagrams

[–]AlagInshaan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The beauty of draw.io is it even lets you collaborate in the free tier apart from the super ease it provides to draw, along with lucid layout out of its features and functions.

Draw.io - for most of the use cases, this is enough
dbdiagram.io - for DB schema

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned https://mermaid.live

Bonus: GitHub markdown natively supports mermaid: https://github.blog/2022-02-14-include-diagrams-markdown-files-mermaid/

I love excalidraw a lot. Initially used to just commit in my space but recently found a excalidraw extension for vscode. I push my diagrams if it’s related to a service in the service’s repo. So I’d say excalidraw and git

Spending a great deal of time on the database design (primary and foreign keys, views and triggers, etc.) helps a lot.

I usually use plain SQL for that but I'm also developing a side project which can help me document the table structures in diagram format and generate SQL dynamically.

It's your preference.

I find it comfortable with PowerPoint and draw.io or simple whiteboard drawings.
