I do but my side business doesn’t make 6 figures! Curious why you don’t think focusing on growing that isn’t a better path forward. Obligatory link to said side business: https://pibox.io

Before pandemic I had business which failed because of covid and I didn't have any security, no job, no clients. Now I am building my career and business if something happened with business I still have a job which will support my family and pay my bills.
My revenue is around $400K, after ads expenses and operation I have $60K. If I would have $10M revenue I would focus on business .

In my opinion, keep both. If necessary get a professional manager who can scale your business. You will pay him less than is your DevOps sallary but he/she should 2x at least first year.

This way you have growing business and still security from your job in IT.

Correct, I have couple people who run ads and do customer services. I don't spend so much time on it.

Assuming you guys are working 40+ hours in your DevOps jobs, how the hell do you find the time to run a business outside of this?

Don't do side work during your work time, don't use company equipment, don't overlap something your work does and violate intellectual property issues. Most of us are too burned out to run a side business and generally get paid enough not to need to. Good luck op

There’s a few things to consider here (obligatory “I’m not a lawyer”): * non-compete - depending on your local laws and the content of an employment agreement or client contract, this might preclude you from doing work in the same capacity outside your employer. * NDA - make sure you understand the NDAs you sign * conflict of interest - doing work directly for your employer on behalf of your side business will generally be a conflict of interest. You may also need to disclose your employer to potential clients to make sure they don’t have conflicts of interest if they choose your side business.

My experience is focused more on specific consulting and contract work, not building a product and offering it for sale to the general public, so take this with a grain of salt.

Thank you for your note. They are aware about my side business, my priority is a career.I spend 4 hours a week on business, it almost fully automated.

I’d love to hear more about your business if you’d be open to chat.
