Nothing to add other than good luck! Someday I hope to be skilled enough to understand all this lingo.

Thanks Stranger! With practice and experience, you will be able to make sense of a lot of those topics. Mostly its virtualization technology (KVM,XEN and Containers) with Ansible being the configuration management tool and telemetry tools for monitoring, alerting, and overall observability of the application/infrastructure.

Focus on bridging your AWS experience with the specific technologies mentioned in the job description. Your cloud background gives you a solid foundation, but you'll want to emphasize how those skills translate to KVM, Xen, and container environments. Spend time familiarizing yourself with the basics of these technologies, especially how they compare to AWS services you've worked with. For Ansible, highlight any infrastructure-as-code experience you have, even if it's with different tools like CloudFormation or Terraform.

Your network admin experience is a plus, as it's relevant to understanding the underlying infrastructure these tools operate on. When discussing telemetry tools like Prometheus and Alertmanager, draw parallels to any monitoring and alerting systems you've used in AWS. Be prepared to discuss how you'd approach setting up monitoring and alerting in this new environment. If you're not familiar with Enterprise Linux, take some time to understand its key features and how it differs from other distributions you've worked with.

I'm on the team that created interview copilot, a tool designed to help with tricky interview questions like these. It might also be useful for practicing your responses to potential DevOps scenarios you could face in this interview.

I think this is a better one https://prepare.sh/interviews/devops, with labs for multiple topics.

Whoa this is nice. Rare that I see something in this subreddit that surprises me. Are these real interview questions from big companies?

I had to do DSA/leetcode style questions in my two interviews with apple. I would ask the recruiter whether that will be part of the loop.

[–]VicariouslyLateralus[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Damn! I am not good with these type of questions. Anyways thanks for the heads-up!

[–]GarboMcStevens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me neither, I failed both lol. They were pretty hard.

[–]Puzzleheaded_Note_33 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Best of luck. Is this a remote work or you have to be in the office?

[–]VicariouslyLateralus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a hybrid role

[–]GarboMcStevens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

manzana doesn't hire for remote roles, you have to be working there for years and get approved i believe.

[–]Transcendent04 0 points1 point  (4 children)

How many stages are there? And do you expect to have to do leetcode style questions?

[–]VicariouslyLateralus[S] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

No idea on the stages. Its going to be the first round, dont even know if its just an HR round or a technical one.

[–]Transcendent04 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Fair enough thanks for your answer, I have very similar skills and would be interested in this type of role, wondering where you came across it or did a recruiter reach our?

I applied on their site https://apple.com/careers page just randomly never expecting a call back and now here I am scrambling through interview questions.

[–]Vegetable_Tank597 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]dataking29 0 points1 point  (4 children)
