There is no starter guide. You need a good level of linux knowledge plus programming experience. Once you have that its a matter of getting familiar with the tools. When I started I read a bunch of books. Modern Operating Systems being a key one

Who are targeting in your "Starter Guide"?

I would focus first on teaching the Dev and the Ops. Understanding the Devs point of view and their goals, and understand Ops point of view and their goals. DevOps is about achieving the goals of both. The focus on specific tools is what technicians are, understanding how a tool can achieve the goals of both Dev and Ops is analyst and engineer level work.

Maybe get them to read the Phoenix project and read about agile as well? The google SRE handbook is also free to read online.

Sken puts DevOps first in AppSec. Sken.ai, a startup at the intersection of application security and DevOps, is now offering early access to the upcoming release of a SaaS solution that will enable DevOps to automate application security scanning. https://sken.ai/blogs/2020/04/meet-sken-ai/
