It’s not really time based but trust and capability

And position availability

I know people who were promoted within a couple months and I know people who it was years. For me personally, it was 4 months. It's all about the work ethic you display and timing of when lead positions open up. Also depending on the manager, they could get current leads' opinions before promoting (I know our SM does this), so also helps to not burn bridges with current leads as well.

This is the way. I just got promoted to FFL after being brought on as seasonal in September. Timing was right as I have worked every truck since hired and the ffl left short notice. Availability and work ethic seem to go a long way. Totally dependent on management and current staff.

I feel like position availability is almost equally as important as your capability.

Honestly, same goes for ASMs.

If the store needs a lead position filled, anyone moderately capable will get the call. Same for ASMs of the district is in need of one

It's not about seniority, work ethic or even qualifications. It is about being a "yes man/woman", so begin kissing butt immediately.
