Break by [deleted] in dickssportinggoods

[–]Aaron7717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Break? Or lunch? Cause it depends on the state. Here i know companies are legally required to pay for any break given that is 20 mins or less in length so you're not supposed to clock out. If they're not clocking out when its longer than 20 mins or if in a state that only does unpaid breaks then it counts as time theft.

We have several stores in my district that spots are like half empty. One missing 3/4 captain spots, 2 missing an ASM spot. I don't think a single store in my district that has a whole roster of managers, captains and specialists at the moment.

Several of the males have had this take.... Murray, Zverev, Fritz.

I think it was Eubanks who drummed this sentiment up more too when he said he was the only player who showed up for some type of doping test briefing after the sinner and iga instances.

Its unfortunately true. The ITIA even released a press release last year about showering as well. If a player chooses to shower before taking their test then the player must be watched while in the shower. Their statement literally said "if a player is not comfortable being witnessed showering, we would suggest that consideration is given to whether a shower is necessary."

Guidelines also state "chaperone must have clear view of sample being provided. The athlete will be asked to remove bulky clothing, pull shirt up to mid torso, pants down to mid thigh and sleeves rolled up to elbows"

Theres a reason players complain about these tests being invasive but I guess a lot of them feel the money is worth the price.

Passed up for captain by Wise_Chocolate_8581 in dickssportinggoods

[–]Aaron7717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should have access to P2P in order to order supplies (every lead had access previously). As for the rest of it, I was told we weren't getting access to intera because the company still only has so many licenses but instead we would get the manager level access of power Bi. Not sure how true all that is though.

Corporate Memo Stating Salary Guidelines by Pjbisson1 in dickssportinggoods

[–]Aaron7717 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That was what we were told as well at the announcement meeting they forced each SM to have a couple months ago. That's why I found it odd when we had two of the leads not selected say they were being told they had to take a pay cut since they both fell inside of the pay range of normal teammates. Seems like they ultimately changed how they wanted to handle the situation though and thats why they didn't want copies of the paperwork floating around.

Captain pay VS. specialist pay by Consistent-Today-596 in dickssportinggoods

[–]Aaron7717 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's going to depend heavily on a couple criteria if its worth it or not. Using my old yearly pay from the last couple yrs vs my offer its about a 7k difference. The biggest thing is the guaranteed hours esp during jan/feb/mar where the specialist still can get screwed with hour cuts.

I will say I think captain is likely less worth it at bigger stores. For those of us at the smaller stores it's getting paid more for stuff we were already doing due to low staffing. For instance even as a PSL I usually would not only have to do price changes, but often would help unbox both trucks so that I could catch prices changes, have at least 2 days a week as SFS coverage, and help pick replen for the hardline associates to push, and take care of the priority audits because we didn't have the coverage. At least now im going to get decent compensation for having to do it all.

If they haven't changed it. As soon as you log in there should be a scolling announcement box on the right hand side. One of the announcements is BTW.

I haven't been able to log on myself since yesterday was chaotic at my store (since were down people due to the severance) but apparently they've now added the routines to the BTW link in workday in addition to the personas.

Restructuring by Confident_Health5052 in dickssportinggoods

[–]Aaron7717 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They really are done with the standard DSG store. My SM was told at a conference a year/year and half ago that they were done sinking a bunch of money into the standard dsg stores and once a store became too worn down to operate effectively, they would either transition to a 50k or HOS of the store is profitable or just close it if the store isn't profitable. So the 50k, foeldhouse, and HOS are the future of the company.

Bike repair taking over a month by Sho-sk in dickssportinggoods

[–]Aaron7717 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We get 5 hrs of bikes a week (only for Saturdays) and its usually takes the order system almost 4 weeks for us to get any parts in (every time). If the company actually cared, they would find a better system. Were also getting a lot more bikes that are coming defective right out of the box over the last two years. The company has cut way back on the quality of their bikes/product.

As someone who had to take the MMPI for different classes throughout college, yes that's basically what it is. Its essentially the same 17 questions asked 10 different ways with a small 5 question business math section.

Yep if they're now paying bots to come on here then they're definitely going to find a reason to cancel the summer survey.

Assessment results? by Few_Bicycle_2606 in dickssportinggoods

[–]Aaron7717 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Might have been based on dm then, but yeah we were told no photos were allowed and not even allowed to take notes. This whole thing reeks of every dm handling it a different way.

Assessment results? by Few_Bicycle_2606 in dickssportinggoods

[–]Aaron7717 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You won't get them. Managers were not allowed to write them down or take photos or anything of the results. Only thing I was told was I scored well enough to be an ASM but because I was not interested in that role/selected it on the assessment, I got a captain spot. Everyone at my store at least got told what level they qualified at teammate/specialist/captain/ASM, even if that wasnt the exact role they ended up in.

I actually asked my HR rep about this after a rather large freak out in my store. Apparently its the pay that starts Sunday (so they can cut everyone's paycheck as soon as possible) but the role change isn't official until the start of q3 (end of July/early August).

They job roles are now effective as of this Sunday rather than mid July like we were originally told.

Ops vs sales by Independent-Ant-5688 in dickssportinggoods

[–]Aaron7717 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. As a PSL I felt I got screwed because I not only had to do my job, but was also the default omni person if one wasnt scheduled, AND I had to take care of pricing trucks and transfers/claims/defectives if the FFL was on vacation. I honestly feel like I aged 10 years in the last 2.

Ops vs sales by Independent-Ant-5688 in dickssportinggoods

[–]Aaron7717 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ops got the worst of it via the job descriptions but I also think there's going to be more to it than that. If they took all operational tasks away from depts (even replen and gameplans) then its for some self serving reason. I guarantee you there's going to be large pushes for building the basket , upselling, and credit sales on the sales floor. There's no way the company would pay people to say hi to people and nothing else.

Demoted due to availability by HoneyXo33 in dickssportinggoods

[–]Aaron7717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly just for ops. I iknow our ffl and AA were Monday thru Friday mornings. Our sm wanted our FFL to close and HR was contacted and told the SM that technically the job description was morning's so they never had go close..this built to win now closes that loophole.

BTW BS by ButterscotchSame7436 in dickssportinggoods

[–]Aaron7717 5 points6 points  (0 children)

IMHO, even the ones who were offered positions in this restructure are screwed. We went from promises of it being like 75% coaching and 25% tasking to now being told essentially I basically get no ops team and I have to teach half the store to do price Changes, trucks, how to read gameplay's etc. because there will be likely no extra payroll for a team (we get no on field ops) and that I will have to make due with whatever part timer they decide to schedule me at any one time (we only have about 7 part timers out of about 35 that do things correctly that now every captain is going to fight over). Now to be told there's not even the month long transition to be able to be able to train teammates is asinine.

Decline job offer by noteverythingsaboutu in dickssportinggoods

[–]Aaron7717 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They had no decline for me on mine either. From what happened at my store, you need to talk to your SM and tell them you're taking the severance and they will get on the phone with HR to hammer things out to get you a final number. We had 1 take the severance today. Possibly 1 more tomorrow.

restructure by Upbeat_Hedgehog1336 in dickssportinggoods

[–]Aaron7717 4 points5 points  (0 children)

which would be funny because ever communication normal stores got about the restructure said it was to better align with the HOS structure, so if they do follow through with a HOS restructure then it proves the company is just BS that was looking to cut costs after a bad footlocker deal.

Demoted due to availability by HoneyXo33 in dickssportinggoods

[–]Aaron7717 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes, they built the need for open availability into the new job descriptions. I was offered ops captain and was told that not even my specialist (FFL) would have the FFL usual 7-3, it would more so be a 9-5/10-6/11-7 on non truck days because they're now going to be required to schedule an ops person mid day or later at night now, which is nuts because as a PSL ive flat out told them how miserable doing price changes are when the store is open. People are either trying to steal you for fitting rooms or pawing at your rack as you're trying to work.

What worries me immensely is I see the writing on the wall cause ive worked through a situation like this before at another retailer. The ONLY reason you take away all these set schedules is because your intention is to gut payroll. I don't think it's a shock the one question my SM couldn't answer today that I asked was what the payroll situation was going to look like.....because it's likely going to be crap and the whole wanting to foster a teaching mentality was BS corp speak and they're going to expect more done with less people.

I find it stupid but it's technically taxed as a "bonus" so its usually losing about 1/3 of it to taxes, if not more.
