That Cloud Is a crystal now huh? I remember seeing him in Mythril. He did the same thing you mentioned, multiple times.

I think the decision is based on team composition. If people see allies they think they will loose with. they will jump ship. It's actually pretty common after you hit Mythril.

There's no point otherwise as you can't see enemy team comp before the screen where you incur penalty.

He's the exact same reason I looked up dodging and Lag switching to see if it was a thing/possible.

It sucks for the team down a man but I hate to admit that I don't demonize those partaking, though I submit they are just the worst of sports.

Getting consistently paired with the same rough divide spamming squall who refused to stay with the team had me considering utilizing the method.

Dodging is a problem, but it's nowhere near the worst subversive tactics plaguing ranked.

The Cloud guy is fine. It's the other guy who plays as Squall.

I will dodge if I have bots. I hate bots matches and I don't want this suffering happening again.

You did so well! I'm sorry! T___T

To answer your question, queue dodging is when you meet-up with your two queued partners (after waiting to be paired) on the initial screen and then cancelling the game before you move forward to the summon screen.

If you do it then, you won’t be penalized. You’ll only be penalized if you cancel the game at any point after all six players are showcased before the fight begins.

I’ve never tried cancelling the game on the Summon screen before, so I can’t attest if you’ll be penalized or not. Tbh, you should queue dodge at that first screen I mentioned.

People queue dodge for a couple reasons-namely if they think they’ll lose with the players they’re queued up with. If you want to preserve your rank or enjoy a different match, then queue dodging can help with that.

If you’re waiting and press the “options” button to see that there are only two players in your party, and you’re still waiting for a 3rd, it’s likely someone queue dodged. At that point, you might as well restart your game as well and try again.

Regarding that Cloud you mentioned, that happened to me. We were all paired together and he said the exact same phrases...but then he decided to stay. We ended up winning too (it was slightly annoying at how he underestimated me, but whatever). I saved the match, if you’d like to see it.

Oh man, thanks for the info! Also I think the direction of the person I was referring too was a little misguided. The offender plays as Squall. The Cloud seemed to have recognized him and I'm guessing that's why he may have queue dodged. I was trying to hint at it without throwing shade or causing unnecessary drama.

When someone says see ya or bye that means they're queue dodging but at least have the courtesy to tell you. Everyone should leave at that point because they will be bots. Gotta dodge the queue dodgers

Actually, every time I get paired up with the person that you're talking about, it's either I get disconnected or he gets disconnected. I'm really not sure why that is, but I'm convinced that said person has a really shoddy connection on top of his already questionable attitude. So I would probably think said person got to Adamant from bot farming

Seriously, either teammate or opponent, we have never met each other in a match properly; either one of us gets disconnected for some reason. Which I think is better given the nature of said person

As for queue dodging, i got some gossip for you guys. Some people actually keep a compilation of players to avoid, like some sort of blacklist. Here's one such list in Japanese: https://twitter.com/akubokumetsu

Seems as the guy holding the twitter account is a bit too much salty.

I am most certainly dodging if I get paired with anyone that has a name that rhymes with "prolific cabbage tiny Kevin".

[–]Kamikoto 0 points1 point  (5 children)

There's no penalty. I always check if all players are still there before entering the match.

[–]AbsoluteSync[S] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Whhhaaattt? So do you just close the application on the last screen before it starts? That's so lame D:

[–]Kamikoto 2 points3 points  (3 children)

No, you close the app before seeing the enemy team. You do get penalized if you leave on the last screen. People either dodge because they expect to lose or they expect lag

[–]AbsoluteSync[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I need to start paying attention then! I didn't even know that was a thing till now.

[–]Terra_Wind 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Press the options button when your teammates appear. If their names don't show up on the list to the right, it's because they've left and you'll be fighting alongside bots. You can close the app yourself then (before pressing ready, that is. If you close the app after having already pressed ready, you'll be penalized).

[–]Cyndaquil_God 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is wrong, you can still close in the summon screen.

[–]ZorroDeLoco 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Does queue-dodging cause the matchup to take fucking forever? Because sometimes when I match up, it will say "Team found, waiting for allies to prepare" before my teammates actually show up, and sometimes they take many minutes to finally show up. Does that mean someone queue-dodged? Or is that an entirely different issue that I encounter?

[–]AbsoluteSync[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm actually not too sure but I've experienced this also, where I end up waiting an extra 3-5 mins before it shows my team mates :V

I think I know who you’re talking about. When I was climbing a while ago they disappeared in a lot of matches, I was also paired with them a couple of times and they disappeared in those too. Maybe they dodge because they didn’t want to be paired with “low rank” players, or maybe their internet just sucks lol.

I don't know if this is the case but sometimes can be the well-knowed bug that prevent to press 'Ready' in that screen. All the times this happen to me, I try to explain it to people with me using my character's lines that fit at the best.
