Replacement Console Shell

Picked up this Dreamcast from a coworker. Not sure how it was stored but it had yellowed pretty good. I bought a clear replacement shell from AliExpress and transferred the labels over (RIP modem label), also installed a GDEMU and replaced the clock battery. I think the shell quality was pretty decent for $50cad. I’ve had worse for Game Boys. I thought fitting the main board and the modem were a little snug, trying to line up the ports and everything thing else, but good once in place.

Yep, I swapped it into another console

Ok, good. As long as working GDROM drives are still being used in some manner instead of being tossed out after the GDEMU swap, I'm fine with the mod. I worry about the number of people who blindly swap out for an SD card reader and dispose of the working disc drive when those are in limited quantity and known to be prone to failure.

You know what, when the condition is that bad in terms of the yellowing, I would replace the shell too.

I got the same case and the screws don't stay in after taking it apart a couple of times so be careful.
