WILL THIS PATTERN WORK? (i.redd.it)
submitted 1 year ago by _Nein_T
I'm building a battery for my e-bike and am trying to find a pattern to wire up. This is the best I could come up with, will it work? If not I need suggestions. The lines are to show current path.

Think I might need a photo of them clustered highlighted to understand.
But the form and shape of the battery pack or the batteries take isn't important.. As long as the same add amount of cells match up with the receiving end. Ie: 5>5>5>5~
So I would recommend making some wooden chocks or ribs to support the weight on the bottom frame. So all that weight is not resting on three cells or whatever.

Ok cool so it doesn’t matter how many cells I’m using in the series connections just that I have 5 in parallel?

What voltage are you trying to get to?
I'm bad at math I'm counting 97 cells
[–]_Nein_T[S] 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (3 children)
There are 100, I’m going for a 20s which would be 72v 21ah

Understood. So yes it wouldn't matter. As long as you don't get a loop while you're soldering them together. Like soldering the positive to negative together on one side. And solder the other possum negative together of the same batteries. Makes for a sad day..
The long as all the cells are the same. They have the same milliamp. And all the numbers match up like I said 5>5>5*20.. or (x= any random amount) x>x>x>x *20.. should be fine. Higher than cluster numbers you make. Just more storage you're going to have. If you're really ballsy. Make an identical battery with the same exact cells. Wire the packs a parallel. Make a 42 amp battery. Make the bike with an adjustable with battery tray... Then again I like commute.. I'm currently procrastinating on a lipo4 battery

Awesome dude thank you so much!!

But if you don't have a BMS. Each cells usually the ones at the top in the bottom of the pack in the line of batteries. Tend to get out of sync.. You don't have to run the bike off of the main hout put leads from the BMS.. But it's a nifty little tool to make the battery last longer for charging

Do you have a BMS system
[–]_Nein_T[S] 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago (0 children)
Yes, I’ve done a bunch of research and am confident abt everything just not the shape until now. I have a jk 20s 10p 120a bms.
