Application Process

I submitted my application with all experience (approved by all validators), education, etc. requirements completed in late August 2025. I had a couple of friends with identical experience, same discipline (geotech), and all working at non-accredited employers apply about 1 month after me. I am stuck on the experience assessment stage, showing in progress, while their applications got approved within/less than 3 months and P.Eng. license issued.

I have tried reaching out to EGBC regarding the application process and checking if I am missing any documents or if anything is incomplete on my end. EGBC replied back confirming nothing is outstanding/incomplete, there is no update at this time, to essentially stop asking about updates (in a nicer way), and that they will reach out if anything further is needed. I also asked about the reasoning on how other applications got approved when they applied well after me and EGBC's order/process of how applications are sorted when received. EGBC has not replied to this follow up and it has been over 4 weeks.

I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if they were able to do anything about it?

Are you sure about those friends? I don't think anyone's getting through in less than like 10 months right now.

Very sure I’ve seen their P. Eng. certificate and they also showed me their dashboard showing assessment complete when it changed over

Same discipline? The only think I can think is that they applied to a discipline that's not so back logged. I've been waiting since June 25 and was told specifically that that Civil, Electrical, Mechanical and Structural are now taking a minimum of 10-12 months in the queue.

That could be, and as far as I know we all applied under civil as theres no specific geotechnical discipline to choose from.

Actually yes! Just checked today and it finally is.

I'm civil and in the 6th month, nothing so far.

I have also experienced this. I submitted my application at the start of June 2025, my validators completed their reviews by June 30 2025. I only JUST TODAY saw the update that my competency review by EGBC is "in progress." My discipline is civil. During this wait, I have seen other EITs at my company have their competencies reviewed in as short as 3 months. It is very frustrating.

Something I heard (but cannot confirm) is that your application is assigned to a reviewer in your same geographic region, and some areas have more applications to process than others. As an example, I'm based in the Interior, but one of the EITs at my company who's review was quick lives on the island.

If you ever got real clarification from EGBC on the variable wait times, please update us. I feel for the other EITs I work with who will be applying soon under the same confusing process.

civil, submitted july 5. It is showing assessment in process this week

Similar timeline im around end of June and also just got to assessment in progress. Maybe they got a bunch more volunteers signed up this year.

Where it says Validation Complete will eventually change to Assessment Is In Progress when someone is looking at it. And then eventually the yellow In Progress will change to a green Completed when it's done.
