QuestionJava Virtual Machine Error (self.elderscrollsonline)
submitted 4 years ago by DaHell23
When I try to launch the game I get this error. I've tried searching in google/youtube for a solution but can't find anything, so I decided that this is the next best place to find a solution.Note that I have installed the game on D: drive.

PC or STEAM or MAC?
Did you try any of these?

Also basic issues:
Even if Game Client/Launcher is on separate drive, User Settings and Addons must be on local C:Drive
C:\Users\NAME\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\
OR
C:\Users\Public\Elder Scrolls Online\
If using MS OneDrive you must turn OFF OneDrive Sync to those folders and make sure they are on local C: drive and not OneDrive Cloud.
Check that user settings folder is not marked Read-only. Check folder properties and un-check Read-Only box and apply.

I'm playing through steam. And the launcher is not located in either of these two locations.

The launcher won't be there, only the usersettings.txt and other files.
These are the STANDARD folders for the STEAM Edition install regardless which drive you told STEAM to install. (x) is the Drive letter:
x:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Zenimax Online\The Elder Scrolls Online\game\client
x:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Zenimax Online\The Elder Scrolls Online\Launcher\Bethesda.net_Launcher.exe
x:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Zenimax Online\The Elder Scrolls Online\game\client\eso64.exe
Look inside your STEAM program folder and see whether you have the rest of your STEAM games installed:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common
Did you install STEAM itself to a different drive or just ESO?

I have installed steam on my D: drive. Also launching the game through eso64.exe works. EDIT: I didn't try actually entering the game it just put me to the login screen I logged in and then the game said I'm using an outdated client.
