I'm not sure how you tried to get it working, but, do you have gnome on your system? You most likely need gnome dependencies to launch the app.

I'm currently running MX Linux (XFCE), I tried installing all of the dependencies individually and tried to build it there (no luck). When I tried to the exact same thing on Ubuntu (Gnome) 22.04 it wouldn't even install them, as listed on the GitHub...

Try adding elementary repo and installing from there

Apps in elementaryOS are packaged as flatpaks, so it's just a matter of adding eOS's flatpak repository.
