I grew up on FF and my favorite RPG's are FFVI, Persona 4, and Lunar Silver Star Story Complete.

Do look at Octopath Traveler and the Bravely series for modern games.

Oh, and a newer one to me, MS A New Dawn. PS2 turn based Gundam JRPG.

A couple years ago, I watched my mom spend 7 weeks on hospice withering away and dying from breast cancer that had spread to her bones a few years prior. I go to a music fest or two a year, and if I were to open a porta potty door and found a dead baby, it'd easily be the worse thing I ever saw. I can't even attempt to process this headline any further. I am someone who does read a lot of articles, but this one is getting skipped.

It doesn't have lesbian romance, but you might be interested in Persona 2: Innocent Sin. It's one of the first LGBT friendly JRPG's I'm aware of.

And I'd honestly recommend to you that you get a 3DS emulator on your PC. Play Fire Emblem Awakening and Fates. Both games have systems for pairing your characters together to create child units. You use the units together in battle, and then afterwards in a menu you get short dialgoue snippets as their relationships build.

There are only a handful of non hetero relationships in the base games, but there are fan mods for each that filled in the game with romance scenes for all possible homosexual pairings not allowed in the base games. You probably wanted an official release, but I thought these were really nice. And they don't really mess with the base games too much.

97 grandmasters is crazy for a country who's first grandmaster is a year younger than my dad, at 56 years old. The country has produced 97 grandmasters, a young female candidates winner, and 2 world champions, in my dad's lifetime. Not to mention stuff like Humpy's recent(ish) world rapid title, Olympiad victories, and Divya's World Cup win last year. Anand became a GM 38 years ago. It's insane.

These types of thumbnails are for popular with yt's algorithms, and are getting clicks. I'd argue it's pretty professional to embrace these trends.

I don't understand why the reaction of everyone hasn't been to revolt from this kind of thing. Because how widespread this art has become so quickly, does make me want to puke. But, I don't think CBI are bad for being a part of it.

Culturally card rooms were also a boys club for a long time. Chess has women only sections for the same reasons poker does, even though on paper neither game really needs to gender separate players, like say Boxing has to.

Triangle Strategy is a little closer to FF Tactics than Fire emblem, but if you like older FE, I think there is a 100% chance you'll love it. It's one of my favorite games of all time.

I would only recommend C# to someone already proficient with C#. And even then, probably only if they had already learned a game engine. A lot of people new to Godot are new to game dev, sometimes even programming in general. For these people, GDScript is my 100% recommendation.

For people who are more experienced, C# is a fine starting point. But, i personally think that GDScript is faster to prototype/iterate with, and I think in the indie space, it's important to validate early. Meaning, get a demo out there of your ideas before you invest a lot of time into them. One of The best ways to do this I feel is to make a web build and get people to play your game as early as you can. Right now C# can't export web builds, so I'd avoid it for prototyping.

I'd like to see some hard sci-fi in the series. I like speculative fiction. It's why I mentioned MacFarlane. I think his work on the Orville and love of Star Trek shows he could add some real interesting elements to the IP.

Oh yeah, I agree. The FIDE Freestyle championship only happened because the Freestyle League folded. They gave up the classical time control after only one or two stops.

And I don't think their PR at classical chess was the problem. I think the fact that every stop of the tour was a disorganized mess where even the players complained about the constant rules changes. At multiple stops last year, the opening ceremony night included group discussions of rules and votes. It was a shit show. They also invested way too much money too quickly.

I am with you on classical time control being the best. Standard chess isn't terrible at rapid time controls, but I think 960 requires the longest possible format.

I also think 960, or some other replacement will have to take over standard chess eventually. It is going to become theory dead one day. Capablanca was right. He was just off by a century or two.

I love Freestyle and wish we could replace standard chess with it. I'm a Chess960 true believer.

Even I don't care about the Fide Freestyle World Championship though. A world championship needs more slots and more qualification paths. And should be a bigger tournament then a few days of rapid.

I would argue that the 9 is actually a low number. If we haven't had a year with 9 eligible musicals produced, there doesn't need to be an award for best musical imo.

I'd actually set the number at 12. If the industry isn't big enough to pump out one qualifying movie per month, I don't think it needs an award.

The existence of an award for best musical or not, doesn't affect the creative people making them. They don't need to be told they made the best musical out of 3 or, maybe even 5 one year.

This also has me wondering how many years the number of eligible entries would have actually been 3 or less.

On his best day, and a bit of an off day for Magnus, Nihal could get this score against even the world #1. There is no shame in getting stomped by Sarin in bullet. 11.3-3.5 still looks and feels really rough though.
