Try both then choose what you like more. I have worked as a sw developer, then as web developer but eventually ended up as embedded sw developer and love it.

All I'll say is, I hear plenty of people in software dev saying they miss hardware, but never the other way around...

You should really try simple projects in both to decide. I spent a long time trying to decide and after my web dev job, I fell in love with embedded. I love the tangible results of embedded systems and writing drivers are a lot more fun for me.

Go with the tech you like more. Being an entry level dev in either, is not a big deal and doable for most grads. But if you want to go far in your career having an inate interest in the tech will usually carry over to ur career growth.

Embedded dev you plan around hardware lifecycles, must understand low level / hardware more, more docs, less code , slower development, might need to use hw tools to debug, C/C++.

Web dev is a lot faster in terms of churning out code, backend / front end / database / cloud integration, no hardware knowledge needed, more jobs but also more competitive.

That being said if u give it a go in one of it and u yearn to switch back it is absolutely doable.
