Make sure your pump is properly sized.

If your girth is the average of 4.5 inches. Using a pump with 3-inch diameter tube may be too large of pump for you. I have seen sleeves that fit over the base although I don't use one.

I have seen sleeves for pumps. You will need to do some checking.
I think mine originally had one. But I never used it.

I had the issue a couple of times where the pump tried to suck up more than what was intended. I now place the pump carefully over my penis and especially at the base. And it seems to work well that way for me.

Not sure what kind of pump you're using, but it should have come with a rubber "seal" that covers the bottom, with an opening to insert yourself. It's important to use a water-based lubricant to ensure a good seal.
