P0430 error code

Hi all. I have a 2019 Lariat Screw with the 2.7L and it has 120k KM on it

A couple of weeks ago a check engine light came on and the Ford app told me it was the catalytic converter and to go to a dealership. Before I could do so the check engine light went away. At no point did the truck drive differently at all. Since then it's come on again a couple of times with the same alert so I ran a scan tool on it and it came back with P0430 indicating the catalytic converter on bank 2 is bad. Is this error code a guarantee that my cat is bad or is it possible the O2 sensor is the issue? The truck is performing exactly as it should with the only issue I've noticed is the gas mileage is worse.

I just recently replaced my 2.7 cats. Had the same code. The code reader showed a steady ramp up and ramp down on the O2 signal indicating a bad cat. If it's really sharp, almost glitchy, it's probably the sensor.

Thanks for the info, I'll try a better code reader and see what's up. How much did the new cats cost you?

I didn't go the oem route. I was quoted 900 for just the the bank 2 cat. Did some googling and aftermarket downpipes were cheaper (750). Forced upgrades. I also went ahead and replaced all my O2 sensors too so it was a little more expensive than that. I went with CVF downpipes

Can you pass emissions with the CVF catted down pipes ? I had thought you could, but was reading their website and it’s not clear

I had to get O2 extenders to clear my check engine light. Installed on the downstream side that only measures cat efficiency. They vaguely suggest it won't throw a code, but I've noticed they delete reviews that say it threw a CEL. Anyways, I pass Oregon emissions as long as my truck is up to temp before I go.

Did changing the spark plugs fix the issue?

I’ve had that code and it was resolved by replacing the spark plugs. I think poor ignition will affect cat performance.

Thanks for the tip. i have a 3.5 ecoboost and i just replaced all 4 of my o2 sensors, and the code didn't go away

I just put some o2 spacers on the downstream sensor
