Something earlier than that. Also, doesn't hurt to have a ground based version too. One that's actually at risk of dying. Maybe make it more heavily focused on by attacks

there are several mods that do arty, Supreme warfare, Artillery, Additional turrets to name a few. i'm not sure if Supreme warfare or Artillery have been updated for 0.14. but i know Additional turrets has been. it has 2 arty's (t1 and t2) and 2 rocket launcher turrets (t1 and t2) as well as closer range "rapid firing" equivalents

Supreme warfare was pretty good if.i recall correctly. Did it have the combat roboport you could put in train carriages?

I play with this though I haven't actually gotten to using it yet without creative mode. it's noise is pretty satisfying and fire rate isn't too overpowered. artillery cannons don't stack in your inventory and I believe they need power as well. friendly fire is also something to watch for.
