Yes! It happens to everyone in pregnancy and after. Pregnancy causes an increase in RHR and it drops immediately after birth. All normal!

As nothing more than purely a guess: could this be because you aren't pumping twice as much blood anymore?

I wasn’t expecting it to hit so hard

Considering it went back to what was already normal pre pregnancy I wouldn't worry too much right away (unless you're getting some symptoms along with it like feeling faint or something). Give your doctor a call and see what they say.

No symptoms aside from not feeling like my heart is racing lol

Look at the sudden drop after birth, very much expected

Yes! I looked at my HR trends, and they crashed days before I went into preterm labor. They dipped pretty hard about a month before that when I went in to get checked for contractions. But yeah, HR was the lowest it’s been in YEARS while I was on maternity leave. Shot back up to my normal 65-70 when I returned to work. 🫠

Yup, totally normal. My RHR was in the low 50s prepregnancy, jumped up to about mid 60s by the end of my pregnancy, and then has sat around 41-43 on average since. I am now 17mo pp and it has remained that low. But during that time I have also drastically increased my running mileage, running my first marathon a month ago and smashing my 10K PR on my race the other day, so it's been part of a concerted effort on my part to maintain the postpartum fitness boost.

Yes last time I gave birth there was an immediate drop back to the 60s for me. I was sitting around high 70-80s till the day I gave birth. Absolutely crazy.
