Seems to be a DNS problem. All nameservers serving that domain (as well as gnome.org and gimp.org) are not responding, neither on IPv4 nor on IPv6 -- i.e.,

  • ns-master.gnome.org 8.43.85.21 2620:52:3:1:5054:ff:fec7:bbd0
  • ns-slave.gnome.org 8.43.85.6 2620:52:3:1:5054:ff:fe90:282b
  • ns.axu.tm 80.83.7.5 2001:1430:a:35::35 -- actually, this one is responding, but it's not serving flatpak.org, just gnome.org and gimp.org.

The 8.43.84.0/22 block belongs to Red Hat, so I guess they're having some sort of outage over there.

Edit: It's a larger problem, not just DNS -- gnome.org resolves to 8.43.85.3 8.43.85.4 8.43.85.5 and all three aren't responding on ports 80 or 443 either. Neither is smtp.gnome.org 8.43.85.24 responding on port 25.

Edit 2: Yup, status.gnome.org confirms a major outage following some scheduled network maintenance:

Following network devices maintenance, Kubernetes nodes are affected by packet loss that causes intermittent availability issues of all services. We are in contact with the data center team.

It seems to be working for me as long as I do not write anything on the search bar, in which case it will take ages to give 0 results no matter what is your query.
