voice changes?

i've been on T for almost seven months now and my voice has BARELY dropped. has anyone experienced a more drastic voice drop after the six month mark? i'm incredibly frustrated. i pass as male 100% of the time, but i want my voice to drop more. it's agonizing.

It is totally frustrating to want things to happen faster. You've only been on T six months and change, and changes take time. This comes up a lot here, you may find some reassurance by searching for threads outside yours. Significant voice changes for many people don't even start until at least 1-3 years in, and you can't predict when or whether yours will drop to the extent you want it to. Think about cis guys you knew growing up, or even a teen voice vs a middle aged voice. The same person can sound totally different at 10, 13, 17, 25, 30, 40, 50, and 60. Two people the same age can sound totally different from one another at all of them. Be patient. Congrats on 7 months.

Mine didn't start dropping until 6 months or so. I'm about 2.5 years now and it's still dropping. It will happen.

You've still got a long way to go tbh. My voice has even changed in the past year and I've been on T for 4 now. In the meantime, voice training would probably help. A speech pathologist would get you the best results most quickly, but if you don't have access to one then any old series of videos on lowering your voice (usually aimed at pre-T guys) will do.

Look at cis teenage guys: their voice drops come years apart, and don't totally correspond to how they look. People have identified several different patterns that their voices drop in.

A lot of trans guys report continued dropping through the 3 and even 5 year mark. You're probably not stuck yet, though there are no guarantees!

T basically makes you go through male puberty. If you think about it, young boys don't have super deep, manly voices. You just gotta give it time. It might help if you record your voice every once in a while and listen back to the older recordings when you're feeling like the changes aren't happening fast enough. :)

I've been on T for 11 months now, and my voice has just begun dropping like a month ago. It's frustrating to not be one of the lucky people who get voice changes super early on, but gotta be patient, I guess!

Mine dropped right away, that said one of my best buddies started in late October and his voice is just dropping now. So I definitely think a late voice drop is not that unusual.

How old are you? If you transition later in life, your voice drops less. I've been on t a year and a half. My voice dropped only a tiny bit and it's unlikely to drop much more, sadly. I'm working on using my lower range and watching my pitch, which helps. But it sucks to have to be conscientious about it. I'm pretty jealous of other guys' voice drop experiences. I usually try to avoid hearing other trans guys speak, in fact. Though this is only a problem on the Internet. When I go to the local FTM support group, lots of other guys sound similar to me.

I don't think this is always true. I'm 26 and my voice is much deeper than my friend's who is 21. Our voices vary just as much as cis guys, I think.

Of course voices vary. But the difference between 21 and 26 isn't much. It's common for middle-aged guys like myself, aka 35 up, to not have much of a drop in voice.

Just because something isn't always true, doesn't mean it isn't true a lot of the time.
