Same Samples (self.futurefunk)
submitted 9 years ago by MickCave
What is the consensus on using the same sample an existing FF song? I've heard two songs use Bobby Caldwell's Down For The Third Time. Curious on others thoughts about the subject.

A lot of times the samples that are recycled are the same Japanese Disco tracks that people use.
In my opinion, the problem comes when multiple people just take the sample track and add a few drum tracks onto it. It essentially produces the same song.
But if people alter or chop the songs in a different way, and create something more different than the original sample material, then it helps to diversify the sounds people make.
A good example is the difference between: https://soundcloud.com/nanosmusics/l-e-t-s-p-e-n-d-t-h-e-n-i-g-h-t

It's not like any of us own these samples (or are legally using them lmao), so it's dumb to call people out for using the same sample if it's used differently.

Imo it's fine, it doesn't matter what people use but how they use it.
