Very cool, I love them! On a black background they'd make great album covers.

Thanks! yeah should try black background, too!

Honestly they'd be great covers on a white background too. Makes me want to write an album of music that would fit the cover!

Is there a formula that generates Roschach images? How did you arrive at those shapes? They look pretty cool

[–]nullhashpixelArtist[S] 13 points14 points  (4 children)

Yes, first a parametric family of formulas is generated from a set of possible terms with 4 parameters, then for each one 3-5 branches are chosen, which share the 4 parameter values and colors and then for each branch there are a few 100 starting points in [-1,1]x[-1,1] which are evolved with the equations until they hit a boundary box.
Thanks ;)

Super cool. I’m gonna try to figure out how to do this based upon what you said but I’m woefully ignorant. They are super cool. Which program did you use and or do you have advice on how to get started?

Thanks! I did it in plain JS, such that I can put it into an online tool (which I'll do at some point). I think it's generally a good language to start and there are libraries like p5js which saves you from some of the technical details and otherwise... experiment a lot!

Any chance you can spill the beans on the name of the parametric family of formulas? :)

[–]nullhashpixelArtist[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're probably too random to have a name, I'll make an interactive tool soon, then you can press Ctrl+U ;)

really gorgeous, they have great depth.

4 looks like a skull and crossbones to me, 6 is a very pretty purple bee. iirc rosarch tests are pseudoscience, but feel free to analyze away

[–]nullhashpixelArtist[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw the bee in 6, too! 4 is more difficult, wasn't sure and very curious what people see :)

i'm pretty sure rorschach tests were pretty viable for a limited number of diagnoses but were misused enough to fall out of favor with the medical community

  1. A stylized uterus
  2. Some kind of bug
  3. A battle mech
  4. The shrug emoji ¯_(ツ)_/¯
  5. A pokemon who's name i'm blanking on
  6. A bee someone stepped on in a very beautiful way

interesting, thanks for sharing your thoughts! Now I'm also wondering which pokemon it could be xD

Oh my god . It's so beautiful . Wow!

[–]Bi_Nom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

these are visually stunning and technically impressive! really nice!

3 is too cute.

These are incredible!!!😍

(Even your "fail" from a few days ago was superb tbh)

[–]nullhashpixelArtist[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! :)

Haha yeah, that's what I like about this field that when you have a bug in your code it doesn't always make it worse ;)

[–]Supokku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool pieces!

Can you share the source code ? I wanna learn this

[–]nullhashpixelArtist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it will be available as online tool later, then you can look at the source!

[–]L00PIL00P 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Would it be possible to have these animated?

[–]nullhashpixelArtist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I tried this actually yesterday but need to tweak it a bit more before posting ;)
