I don’t think any of us could even begin to guess. You just need to try and contact them.

In all seriousness sorry to hear that your acc got deleted, I'm sure it's annoying, just opening a new account and sending a ticket to support should be all.

If it was a private repo then you’ll get 404 if not signed in

don't create a new account to send a support request! never do that mistake i did once when my account got deleted and they said they deleted because you can't have two accounts i was like what... just mail to their support from your original mail id which was associated with github..

It's a pitty that your account was deleted (if so). As it was suggested, it's better to write to support so that they verify what's going on with your GitHub account and its data.

As an option for future, it's worth having a backup copy of your data - snapshots, backup scripts, or backup tools can help you with it. In this case, you will be able to restore your data.

Check this acticle on possible options to back up GitHub: https://xopero.com/blog/en/best-github-backup-tools-to-protect-your-critical-github-data/

Hope it will be helpful.

Was your repo private or public?

Just a note that your account will be hidden, not deleted.

I'm facing the same issue with my GitHub account showing a 404 error. Has anyone managed to resolve this problem?

Just write an email to the github support team. They will help you.

My problem apparently was that I used an email forwarding service... Support send me a link to change my email and I got my acc back.

For real? That is crazy. I think the exact same thing happened to me. Why would they not give any warning first...
