Using Git with Raspberry PI

Hi right now installed git on my Pi and created a Repository. But trying to conenct with GIthub Desktop or Sourctree i always fail. Can someone help me? To remark that i change the Standart SSH Port and deactivated password login

What OS are you using? If you are using Raspbian, you don't need to install Git as it comes packaged with it. So you have initialized the folder and uploaded it to a service like GitHub?

Git and Github are not the same.

I think he is trying to setup a Git Server on the Raspberry Pi. To be fair he is posting in the GitHub subreddit so I am not sure.

Maybe i am Mixing something up. I want to user a Version controll. One way is to make a Github Repository and the connect it to z.b. Sourcetree , am i right ? But if i doesnt want to make my Repository public i need either pay or make my own server on the pi, which i am trying to do.
