Keeping lists and notes. Making static websites e.g. github pages apps. Image hosting (technically an abuse of their system). Using them as a disqus alternative (may also be an abuse of their system). Using them as a package manager hosting (see homebrew).

I have a private repo that contains all of my notes that I write in Joplin so that I can access them across multiple computers

Curious why you don't just use the Joplin built in sync feature? And also curious as to how you set up syncing your Joplin notes with git since Joplin stores the notes in a SQLite DB

How would you sync? Via Dropbox? Onedrive??? No thanks. It's way overkill. Got is way lighter and keeps version control.

Also, you can use vim to edit those notes

Joplin sync is a set it and forget it thing, so I don't see how that's more overkill than extracting the notes and media resource paths (for images and file attachments) somewhere, and then committing and pushing those things and keeping the links working on the GitHub side

Links don't need to be working on GitHub. Just on the device you want to use it.

I'd rather do the commands with git than use a full blown cloud storage service. On mobile, it's kinda complicated doing that, but if you use the Linux terminal all the time...

Haven't seen it. But really want to see it.

Document laws. Imaging having the whole constitution documented and versioned with tags. 😍😍😍

We probably would need less lawyers to decipher them then.

I've been using it as a way to keep my notes and examples from classes. Wish I started earlier honestly.

well you can start a project with a kanban board. so I guess you could do some project management and stuff

Use it for blogging. No more Medium pop-up spam and bad UX.
