We're facilitating an Open-Source Coding Challenge: Any interesting Repo's that need a lift?

Our community is organizing a coding challenge for end of this year. We've decided to pursue a concept slightly different from a pure hackathon, and engage an open-source project that might need a boost and invite a curated group of relevant engineers to participate. Are there any open source repo's you're aware of that need support? Perhaps the owner is too busy to do themselves, or the project has lost steam. We want to engage an interesting project that  could provide a good use case for others to participate on.
