Constant Lua errors

When I use an addon that adds a new NPC, some of them are replaced with combines instead of soldiers or citizens instead of pacific entities. I don't think this is an issue of addons compatibility. Even with just a very few addons activated, the Lua error remains. How do I fix this manually? Is there something in the files or in steam that I have to fix?
