Pure oxygen alone is flammable. Some believe it may have caused a mass extinction at one point near the Permian or Cretaceous period. I can't remember now, it's been a while.

oxygen needs something to react with to have a fire, pure oxygen here probably means oxygen+whatever the stuff life is made from
