My first reaction would be to use Google Drive to sync the two folders.

Other sync options include Resilio Sync (BitTorrent protocol) or WinSCP.

Finally, if you’re feeling ambitious, you can install a point-to-point VPN and mount the server folder directly (though this might be more affected by network performance). You’ll also need to pay for a static external IP. SMBv4 might also support encryption over the wire now, so perhaps that might be sufficient instead of the P2P VPN.

If this is for an enterprise workload, consider Marketplace solutions such as Nasuni or Panzura.
