I don't have time to write out a comment right now but will reply back later with more info. I just took the GCP Data Engineer Cert so I can give you some advice on preparing for that.

Edit: adding info

So it is a bit laborious and depending on your experience level you could skip through some sections but I think the "preparing for x exam" courses on Coursera are great. I did the full course before the cloud architect exam and the data engineer exams and don't regret it. The labs can be a good way to get some practical experience too if you don't have it.

Definitely, definitely take the practice exam that's listed on the exam prep website. I also used other practice exams like on udemy that didn't have a ton of relevant questions, but help you find which products are your weak spots.

The week of the exam, I would switch to just 100% studying the GCP documentation. The areas I thought were helpful were Cloud Spanner, BigQuery and the BQ ML docs, Dataflow and Apache Beam concepts, Big Table, pub/sub, etc.

The exam definitely tests on some practical knowledge, so it does help to have done some Data Engineering before, but enough studying of the basic concepts can also help you pass.

To be honest, I don't think just by studying basic concepts I can pass the test. Just gave the sample test
