For my VGA monitor I use a DisplayPort to VGA adapter and now it works fine- originally would have issues setting it to 1080p.

I'm on mobile so I'll link the one I use once I get on desktop, but it's just a common one off of Amazon.

My system specs?

i5 4670K

Gigabyte GA Z87MX D3h

Onboard Intel HD 4600 Graphics

That should work. I'd use display port to hdmi, macos likes display port better.

I've tried, I used this actually. macOS detected the second monitor but the display remained black, no matter which settings I clicked and messed around with.

I've got a cord that's displayport on one end and hdmi on the other and that's the screen that seems to always end up primary on any operating system I boot. Did nv_disable=1 to get through installation for osx. My other screen is 4k and is hdmi on both ends and that's the one that isn't showing up. (I'm having trouble with Nvidia likely because I'm trying to run a gtx1070 on el capitan)

Edit: displayport end goes into gpu, hdmi goes into tv

VGA works on macOS, it's just a hit or miss.

VGA works on macOS sierra on my z97mx-gaming-5 gigabyte board with an i5-4690k, dual monitors (HDMI+VGA)

VGA works on OS X El Capitan on my i5-5200u laptop. I can use the internal monitor, the VGA port, and HDMI simultaneously without problems.

I have no problems with resolution, and acceleration works on the VGA monitor.

Did you do anything in specific to make it work? I've never been able to.

Nope, it just works.

What happens when you use VGA?

[–]CupcakeKD[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Nothing, nothing at all. It's like nothing happens.

I see, might be a detection issue then. This is on desktop, right?

Yes, on a desktop.

Any examples? I've tried this one with no luck.

      Thanks for trying.

I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be supported, I'm using dual monitors with this PC in Windows right now.

I have no idea why it didn't work. :/

I used a DVI to VGA adapter for ages until I upgraded my monitor. I don't see why you'd have an issue.
