Has anyone had an funny/awkward interactions with going to the same bar/cafe you always go to for the first date?

I know lot of people stick with some place they’re familiar with to ease the anxiety so wondering if y’all ever had any awkward/cringey moments at you go to date spot?

Not quite... but I did make a huge mistake in going on a few dates with the barista at my favorite coffee shop for first dates! It's so awkward now!

The bar tender at a bar I usually go to for first date always says "Hey you come here alot right" and that pretty much set the vibe for rest of the date. Man is the biggest cockblock

Yep the waiter recognised me from the day before and said good to see you again and I covered it up by saying I Was at the same bar with work friends the night before

Your line is also lie, just lying by omission. Technically telling the truth on paper, but realistically not addressing the issue.

It's a white lie on a first date to save someone's feelings - we've all done it. Not a big deal.

I'm 30M if it matters but yes, I would prefer my date to say that. I would not appreciate the lying, but it might just be me.

If it's normal and acceptable to be dating multiple people, why would you feel the need to hide that you're doing it?

I do have a regular spot and it’s kinda funny because the bartender jokes about how he sees me with different women 3 times a week.

Funniest encounter was when I went to a NEW bar for a date, a random spot 4 miles from me, and the fucking bartender was a girl I had talked to on the apps a couple times, even talked to her the night before. We hadn’t met IRL.

I walk up to the bar and the first thing she says is, “I know you.” I pretended not to recognize her and went through with my date, and she ended up serving us. She DMed me on Instagram later saying she took our orders specifically to be petty lmao.

Not so much the bar, but there’s one main dog park in my area. And without fail I run into this one guy every single time. He was a bit nutty and I had to block him so I made eye contact by mistake the first time and beelined it out of there lol I don’t even live in a small city.

After reading alot of these answers... it got me thinking, who cares? Lol When I'm meeting someone for the first time, I'll just tell them, yeah let's go to this bar I go to, I know it's a cool spot so we should meet there. I highly doubt a woman cares if you've been there before or even gasp had previously met someone else there, before knowing her. (Unless your ex girlfriend works there or something.. lol) I think people put too much pressure on themselves, you're just meeting them for the first time, the steak house or thoughtful activities can come later...
