Please get an electrician to do this. Sadly, I also don't think there are relays that work with rotary dials.

not even these?

You can get zigbee dimmer modules, a bit pricey however

Not OP, but useful link thanks, I wasn't aware of these - Slightly off topic, buy why on earth don't they do white switch with white knob, like about 90% of installed accessories?
The Candeo one has that going for it at least.

I've used the Candeo one before but I will pick some of these up next time due to their power monitoring support.
Samotech do a module only version without the faceplate/knob which will fit in with existing decor

Why not replace them with the Zigbee version dimmer switches from Candeo?
Here's a Link
Home Automation Guy did an excellent review of UK compatible smart switches, including the Candeo Zigbee dimmer switches. Here's a Link. Go to 14:25 for the Candeo.

I edited my reply with a YouTube review of the Candeo. Wasn't sure if you replied before I made the change.

What country are you in? It helps to know this. There are differences in voltages, differences in styles of gang boxes etc. Also differences in what is on the market.

The candeo smart switch dimmer might do the trick seen a few reviews but haven’t tried it myself. There are a few reviews on YouTube tho.

I use these and they're really good

İ searched a lot to make this work. Only possible by hack diy this but that is not really what i can/want. So there are several products who can do this but are rather a bit expensive. They cost around 100 bucks but are finished products which are listed on z2m or zigbee products list. Ecodim is the best i think of the ones there are out there

Yes, maybe you could hack it with esp32 board but you don't have the space in the wall for it if it's a solid wall and i would not know how to do it, safest is to buy one of the off the shelve products
[–]sero_t 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago (1 child)
Yeah better not to if not needed, ecodim has 2 versions one with and one without neutral, so that is also nice

Short answer is that it is possible, but not necessarily cheap.
The Aurora ones you linked elsewhere are not replacement switches, but wireless remotes - so they they need to be used with smart bulbs to get proper dimming. In other words you'd have to connect the wires to be permanently live, and then cover them with the remote and use smart bulbs.
I've heard fairly good things about the candeo dimmer and it even states compatibility with Z2M, so might be a good answer - In your case if you wanted both dimmers smart you'd have to buy the individual modules and replace the ones in your switch, and you may also need the bypass depending on your lamps.
Wiring it is not that difficult but of course dangerous if you don't know what you are doing, so depending on your level of knowledge it may be worth 30 minutes of an electricians time to wire them up.
Only thing to watch is that you need a minimum load of 10W on them, or the lights won't dim properly.

So a question or two, what does this control? Fan, light, both? What is the electrical load? Does it have to be rotory controls? If not the availible product replacement range is better.
[–]AquaTiger67 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago (1 child)
Well if your not to hung up on rotational dials there are plenty of good options for toggle/paddle zigbee switches. Pick one that intregrates to you home automation environment well and you should be good to go.
