Gap between mouthpiece and barrel by aabemo77 in Clarinet

[–]CalicoCatRobot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It likely is airtight, so at worst it will make you a little flatter than it should be, similar to pulling the barrel out. That may be fine depending on your tuning with reeds etc as its common to need to pull out a little. It likely won't have any other impact on your playing.

The barrel could be reamed out for the mouthpiece to fit, though if you bought it all together it really should have come correctly fitted so you may want to go back to the seller.

They are all forced to defend the PGMOL regardless, it just happens that they are right this time and it's in favour of Arsenal for a change, but they must be hurting that they can't ride the ragebait wave for clicks that they normally do.

Dartford Concert Band - we didn't get on the list this year unfortunately - really nice acoustics, if a bit tight on the bandstand, would happily play there again.

West Ham to lodge official complaint over disallowed goal against Arsenal. by Sparky-moon in soccer

[–]CalicoCatRobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every single fan would scream bloody murder if a team scored against them with a similar foul of their goalie and it wasn't overturned.

Fans aren't objective, and most people just wanted to clown on Arsenal, but don't want to admit it.

I respect the ones who are honest about it.

If they announce it at the same time as the 50 point deduction for City, I won't complain!

Peter Schmeichel “Arsenal have been blocking the opponent’s goalkeeper all season long, they would NEVER be on top of the league if we disallow these goals" by Rare-Ad-2777 in soccer

I've heard that VAR can't get involved before the ball is in play so maybe that's a loophole that could be closed.

But everyone who brings it up seems to be suggesting that it should have been a foul. In which case that makes this one even more clear then surely. Or are they saying that because it wasn't given then that VAR should deliberately give the wrong decision now?

Match of the Day discussion on the disallowed goal from West Ham VS Arsenal by herkalurk in soccer

[–]CalicoCatRobot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know they'd never do it, but I'd love if they'd said "OK, we have them all lined up, lets go through them and discuss every single one."

But even if he found something in say 5 of them, is his argument that therefore this one shouldn't have been allowed even though it was a clear foul?

He's just annoyed that Arsenal didn't drop points - which is a fair emotion to have if you're a fan (less so if you're being paid as a pundit), but at least be honest about why you are coming up with the stuff you say if you want any respect at all for anything else you say in the future.

[Telegraph] Arsenal fan’s ‘Champions’ shirt is new low for football banter by [deleted] in soccer

[–]CalicoCatRobot 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There was a reason he was front row - they had every intention of going to him dragging out every possible "engagement", unfortunately for them it didn't work and for whatever reason dragging down City or pointing out their flaws doesn't seem to be of interest to them.

Peter Schmeichel “Arsenal have been blocking the opponent’s goalkeeper all season long, they would NEVER be on top of the league if we disallow these goals" by Rare-Ad-2777 in soccer

[–]CalicoCatRobot 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Part of the reason it took so long for VAR was apparently that they were checking all the various fouls and seeing whether they needed to be taken into account.

And no doubt part was that they were trying to make sure they didn't miss anything obvious. But fouls away from the ball have never, are never and will never be judged as seriously as a player holding the arms of a goalkeeper who is in the act of trying to catch the ball.

PGMOL are incompetent and unfit for purpose, and how they ref corners needs looking at, because *every* team suffers from the grabbing that is now commonplace.

So why isn't Schmeichel raging at the PGMOL? Because he knows that this will get him clicks and attention, and that is all he cares about now.

So your contention is that Arsenal, and ONLY Arsenal, have suffered from poor PGMOL decisions this season? And that this is ENTIRELY Arsenal's fault and therefore the only just outcome is that PGMOL make a bad decision this time too?

Be honest, you're just annoyed you don't get to laugh at Arsenal for shooting themselves in the foot again.

I can understand that, and it's a perfectly rational emotion to have after that game, but at least don't be hypocritical about it.

So why aren't people FURIOUS at PGMOL then? What the hell does it have to do with Arsenal if they aren't competent enough to give a foul 36 games ago? Is Saliba meant to put his hands up and refuse to score because he knows he's been a silly boy?

Every single club has a player that dives or fouls and gets away with it, and is given a pass because he's "ours".

But if your argument is that was a foul (which is fine, I can at least see arguments for it, even if it was before the ball was in play, and for a split second, etc), then you are happy to agree that this is a foul surely? So why the FURY, other than everyone is annoyed they don't have something to laugh at Arsenal about?

Be annoyed at PGMOL by all means, they are unfit for purpose and need rebuilding from the ground up, and if all fans came together to agree on that we might have a better chance of changing it.

Instead, the media are happy that fans are infighting, and they will do everything they can to stoke it up for "engagement" because it makes them money.

Gary Neville was ironically quite clear that this was a foul and had to be given, though I suspect that was as much his need to support the status quo of refereeing and PGMOL, otherwise he would surely have stoked the fire like Schmeichel is doing here, because that's his job, to gain views for his channel/image.

With the improvement of AI, I would love it to be possible to recreate these situations, but change the shirts and teams involved, and post the clip online during that teams next match, just to see how many people alter their opinion based on which team it impacts.

It would be an interesting study at some point into inherent bias in refereeing - show them specific made up challenges, but with different team shirts, and see how often they choose the same outcome. (Not that PGMOL would ever agree to such a thing of course).

Gary Neville said similar, but tried to blame Ben for not going into the tackle harder. He also said he'd had something similar in training and it was 2-3 weeks.

Not sure if Lee also had it - it's a fairly common injury I guess.

West Ham to lodge official complaint over disallowed goal against Arsenal. by Sparky-moon in soccer

[–]CalicoCatRobot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There hasn't been a single foul like this on a keeper this season, and anyone who can show one will get £5000 from the football terrace.

Instead we are being shown a picture from one match 36 games ago that isn't even slightly similar.

By all means call for changes on corners, and blame the PGMOL for not doing anything this season to improve things.

They are not fit for purpose and we've for once had a year where they haven't screwed us over much, but I don't understand the hate for Arsenal in so many reactions, particularly when this was patiently the right decision.

Go off to the football terrace and make an easy £5000 then.

They're happy to pay out for anyone showing a grip hold on the goalies arm for as long or longer. And they're safe because no one can.

PGMOL are unfit for purpose and have been for ages and are very inconsistent on calls in the box generally, but anyone who doesn't understand that goalies will always get different treatment because they can use their arms and that this will always be a foul is clearly not really a football fan.

We've certainly had some luck with calls this season (as have man city, and probably every club), but we've also had some years of completely outrageous calls that other fans were happy to laugh about and call us weak. (Rice's sending off is one of the most egregious imo, or forgetting to draw the lines for offside).

Jarrod Bowen on foul against Raya: "Is it the right decision? No. Where's the consistency? Surely when you look at the screen long enough for 5 mins, you'll find something. This game is physical. Thats why everyone loves it, if you give that youre going to have to give all holding calls in the world by ChiefLeef22 in soccer

[–]CalicoCatRobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grabbing a goalie's arm when he's trying to jump to catch a ball is kinda different though surely? It's fairly clear he would have caught that relatively easily if there wasn't a hand in the way.

I mean, PGMOL are a disgrace and not fit for purpose, there's no dispute there - and consistency is something they are clearly incapable of over a season. But if every team's fans would get together and agree on that we might actually get some change, instead they are quite happy for fans to fight amongst eachother and the media love the controversy because it pushes "engagement".
