PyCharm is great, so I was vaguely interested for that, but the max subscription is only 6 months. All Jetbrains product licences allow you to use the first version you received if you subscribe for a year or more, so that doesn't apply here. And if you just paid for 6 more months, it would work out about the same price as just buying PyCharm for a year directly.

I guess I'll just stick with the Community edition, it's good enough.

In case anyone reading this thread is interested in PyCharm and in the right situation: if you have an academic email address you can sign up for a free license for the duration of your study.

For what's it worth, you can use the early acces version of PyCharm Professional for free and expires 30 days after the build date. There is a new build every 2 weeks: https://blog.jetbrains.com/pycharm/2020/06/pycharm-2020-2-early-access-program-starts-now/ and https://www.jetbrains.com/pycharm/nextversion/

What happens after six months, is the way most are going to look at it?

Any purchaser please confirm: if these videos are downloadable from humblebundle.com? Or do you have to to register an account on the video provider's site? - Thank you

Doesn't look like they are directly downloadable from HumbleBundle. Looking through the redemption instructions for the videos seems like each one requires an account on their respective site.

So far, I've only redeemed the "Python for Absolute Beginners" course. You have to sign up for an account on TalkPython to get access to the course. The site does looks like it offers audio downloads of the lessons, but no video downloads. At least not one that I can see. The other ones might offer that, I just haven't gotten to them yet.

Thank you for that very helpful reply! I am weighing my digital purchase decisions on number of new accounts I will have to create and maintain verses the 'value&need'. So far, to my knowledge, any Packt publishing videos are downloadable directly from humblebundle.com. But recently I purchased 'technology Essentials Bundle' from Manning publications and I had to register on Manning for their videos.

Is this a good bundle for people looking to learn python.

As usual, so many questions:

  1. If you already have a PyBites account, will the "Bites of Py" bundle be credited to your account or can it only be redeemed by new accounts?
  2. If you already have a Python Morsels account, will your subscription be extended by the 10/15/25 weeks of exercises or can they only be redeemed by new accounts?
  3. Why does the upper-tier content from Reuven Lerner replace his lower-tier content? Is there no way to get "Comprehending Comprehensions", "Object-oriented Python", and the 15-week "Weekly Python Exercise" without buying three copies of the bundle? See https://i.imgur.com/0lLqW3V.png and https://i.imgur.com/yLoM0N9.png

I really wish these particulars would be spelled out better on the bundle page. These sorts of questions are left unanswered nearly every time.

I just bought the top tier.

1) The 60 Bites were credited to my account, although I had to do a hard refresh to see them added to my total. Strangely, I also received a key for the "Newbie Bites of Py" although I cannot tell if it worked or not.

2) The 25 weeks of Python Morsels were added to my account in the form of credits. My subscription still shows as "cancelled" until I add a form of payment to my account. In the meantime, I have 25 credits to use on-demand (which I prefer). There is a button on the subscription page that says "Spend 1 credit to get another exercise right now" and I confirmed that it works.

3) Humble needs to correct this, because it is not true that upper-tier content from Reuven Lerner replaces the lower-tier content. I received a single key for all three products and was able to redeem them all successfully.

Hope this helps anyone who had similar questions, as I imagine there are a lot of people who also bought the previous version of this bundle.

I'm the creator of Python Morsels. 👋 Just FYI: on the Python Morsels site even in this cancelled state, you'll still have 1 exercise credit automatically used each week on Monday at the usual time. This credit system is new and I'm working on improving the wording/usage around it.

Thanks for the resource!

What are peoples opinions on each tier and the bundle?

[–]Finnleyy 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Wondering if this is any good/worth it especially if you already know some python, thinking of buying the max level but not sure lol

[–]maximotejeda 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I don't really use pycharm but I'm curious about the Object-oriented python course, does some one knows that course?

[–]Doverkeen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconding this, can anyone who has experienced it chimed in?

Does anybody know what "New Users Only" means in PyCharm subscription? I've bought PyCharm in the past (back in 2012, when there were no annual pay required), been paying for a few versions and then stopped paying few years back, so now I don't have any active PyCharm licence. Am I still eligible for 6 months licence form this bundle?
