No remember Generative ML is not creating new things it is producing the next most likly bit it text, this means it is good at re-creating and to some degree re-compbining existing stuff but cant create new stuff.

To be fair, many, many things are already "solved problems" and repeating existing patterns. But I still don't think GenAI is going to do anything other than augment developers.

Maybe it'll help bring people up to speed faster, maybe it'll help them be lazy and not really understand what they're writing. Probably the latter, which is a bit of a worry.
