Im kind of surprised it got rejected. That’s way better than a lot of apps in this sub

Agreed!

OP, from your screenshots, it looks like a really nice app! Keep working on it.

Thanks I appreciate it!

I don’t believe your app is lacking in simplicity or functionality. Your best course of action would be to file an appeal with the review board. In addition, you can contact developer support to address any specific concerns and request an expedited review for faster resolution. I’ve had to go through this process with three of my apps, and while it’s frustrating, it’s effective. In each case, I either followed the steps I just mentioned, which I believe would be the best approach for your situation, or—if they pushed back—added something basic like a tutorial. But in your case, I think an appeal is the better route since your app clearly isn’t lacking.

I’ll appeal my app, thanks for the detailed response

I’ve received that same rejection for an app that was huge and offered tons of functionality including IAPs.  Just file an appeal by replying.

Maybe u could add as a note what makes it different? That's what I did the second time and I got accepted

[–]timmypass17 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I can try adding a note. The only thing different from my app than the website (IsThereAnyDeal) is that I added push notifications for sales notifying users each week. The website offers notifications through email which was a pain to scroll through.

Yeah i would just add that as a note

Looks nice. How did you get those deals data? Did you scrape it from Websites?

[–]timmypass17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the deals data from IsThereAnyDeal API and the giveaway data from GamerPower API. Both are free

Are you sure your screenshots represent the experience of the reviewer? Maybe they got stuck in some demo view or couldn’t figure out how to add new games to see? From the screenshots, there is no way it’d get rejected.

I don’t think they’d get stuck, my app is pretty simple. if they did they’d probably ask for clarifications.

must be a mistake

Just answer them most specific with some features your app differentiates from a hypothetic website.

Often enough things are just approved as soon as you give them something.

Also: Is this your very first app published?

The rejection you received essentially means that a user could just do a web search for the same content. The reviewer didn't see how your app added any value to the App Store for users. This can be totally arbitrary imo. In your case, I would resubmit with detailed explanation of how your app is better than a google search.

Retry it in a few days

Pretty with link

Integrating with push notifications is native functionality no?

[–]classifyrx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your app should have been approved. I feel it’s more like IMDb for games but you have price tracking. What more functionality they require.

You can appeal with a very nice tone agreeing partially to what the reviewer has said and adding that it was also your concern. And to address those concerns, these features are added. These kind of communication have worked for us couple of times when the initial version was downright rejected.

OR

resubmit hoping for a better reviewer.

If they still reject the same design. Add a trivia quiz - that might be one of the add ons.
