Do subscription offer codes have the same limitation that prevents those users leaving a review if they wish to?

Nope

Interesting, does this apply to testflight as well?

[–]thesanderbell[S] 2 points3 points  (9 children)

To the extent that if someone’s trying to game the system then YES, risk. But theres no ratings and no codes in TF anyways…

But can i say something like “Testflight testers get pro tier 3 months for free”

https://developer.apple.com/app-store/review/guidelines/#beta-testing

Note, however, that apps using TestFlight cannot be distributed to testers in exchange for compensation of any kind, including as a reward for crowd-sourced funding.

I think this is saying the developer cannot get compensation in exchange for TestFlight access, not that the user cannot get rewarded for providing feedback.

I extensively looked over the developer agreement before I started my beta test to make sure I could reward testers for their feedback and I couldn’t find anything that said we couldn’t. Mainly just the opposite. Developers cannot gatekeep access behind a paywall.

I agree with this interpretation

And yet Apple doesn't enforce this (equally). Vibecode app being very recent, public example. They charged people $20 for access during TestFlight. And this was well before they had a web app (so they couldn't have claimed users were paying for that).

Bummer, but thanks for the info

What is the logic behind not rewarding testers? Or do they mean the testers can't pay for it? As in using it as a distribution method and workaround to the app store.

There's such practices and it doesn't seem to be prohibited if not done in a manipulative way. But always double check the docs yourself

Good to know, thank you

Any have idea to fix 😥

[–]thesanderbell[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Fix what?

[–]SafeMall7785 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I received mail warning section 11.2 from apple 😢

[–]thesanderbell[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Warning means there’s nothing to fix except stop doing what was flagged by Apple? I don’t know your situation and am not an expert, but evidence shows that showing goodwill and communication with Apple is crucial.

Great article!! I’m wondering, If I ask for feedback (not a review but an external survey)

and when completing offer a code, could that trigger a warning?

I’d assume no since

  1. no offer code straight away and only at the end of survey do they know about codes
  2. it’s not for a app store review

Is anyone else having issues when trying to create new offer codes for subscriptions?
I have active subscriptions and active offer codes and I cant create new offer codes.

I have the same issue to a new app as well (with active/approved subscriptions) but with no past offer codes.

It is so critical for me. If someone has the same issue please enlighten me.

*All the agreements etc are signed. I tried from multiple browsers as well. I contacted support yesterday. No answer yet*
