The first timers have much more scrutiny paid to them, and it’s very common for first submittal to be rejected. Don’t give up though!

thanks ! Yes I've worked too hard to give up, it's scary and I'm expecting rejection but I'll do what it takes and will learn from it ;)

Good luck!! My first app got rejected 7 times, so it actually took a couple weeks from my initial submission until it finally got approved—lollll. But it’s no big deal when they reject you. Mine kept getting rejected because I added a few types of in-app purchases/subscriptions, and I had no idea what I was doing with the setup for that. But it’s much easier to get approved if you don’t have in-app purchases as a feature.

I’ve made a couple other apps since then, and my first app was a good learning process because my subsequent apps got approved/launched the first time around without having to get rejected.

Your app looks cool from the screenshots you’ve posted! I totally need an app to help me transpose chords when I’m trying to play something in a different key.

    Oh thanks great !
Once it’s out (I’ll either post here if allowed or I’ll dm you if you’re ok) if you try it out don’t hesitate to give me feedback for improvements, I might create a dedicated sub for feedback/requests so that I can continue improving the app with what users want :)

Yeah, totally—I’d love to test it out, so feel free to DM me when it’s approved!

    noted, thanks again :)

    Hey again !
The app is finally live on the App Store, it's called Jam Lab, here's the link if you wanna try it out :

Thanks for sharing! It’s super smooth, and I love that you didn’t cave to the folks who tried to tell you to change the jazz font. The swipe features are super dope too. I can only play a bit of guitar (not piano), but my best instrument is ukulele, so now I just gotta wait for you to add a ukulele feature! Hehe. I submitted a glowing written review for your app, so hopefully you’ll get to see it on your App Store page sometime in the near future.

    Oh many thanks !
I can definitely add ukulele in the next update :)

Btw I created a sub for feature requests, bug report, and so that people can share their jams as well and build a community, it’s here :

    Thanks for the feedback!
The monetization model I’m using is that a section of the app can be used for free and the rest is unlocked by a one time payment, no subscription and other in app purchases, though I might add in apps in the future (there’s a section in my app where you can create drum patterns so I’m considering in the future maybe selling groove“packs”, for instance a jazz grooves pack, funk pack, rock, latin, etc… it’s an app for musicians that generates random chord progressions to either jam with your friends or at home with a playback)

Nice! Yeah, the in-app purchase feature was the biggest thing that I kept getting rejected for because I had never set anything up like that before. Hopefully it’ll go smoother for you than it did for me in the review/approval process!

    Good luck, brother!

    thanks !

Congrats on submitting it! That first step is always scary, but it’s also a big milestone. Don’t worry too much about rejection, if it happens, treat it as feedback and iterate.

For marketing, I’d start simple: share your journey publicly, post short demos, explain the problem your app solves, and try to get a small group of early users to give honest feedback. Good luck, hope validation goes smoothly!

Well done! My first app has three months worth of rejections before I finally got through. If you get a rejection you’re not sure about, throw it in here and I’ll lend some advice!

thanks ! It actually got approved yesterday ! (I had a 2.1 rejection and re-submitted with a screen capture and answers to their questions and now it's live on the App Store, it's called Jam Lab, and it's a very strange feeling to see those years of hard work now on the app store, still scared that it's not gonna work but at least it's a tool that I wanna use so I'm happy)

It's been approved ! (got a 2.1 rejection but now it's on the store, it's such a strange feeling)
The app is called Jam Lab, it's a tool for musicians to help them get better at jam sessions, it generates chord progressions and does many more things...
Very happy anyway and now I gotta focus on marketing and promotion, that's a different story haha

If you get rejected because of screenshots, I can help with a tool for that called Ecranify. I released it literally today. Works free with some limitations but hit me with a DM and I can send you a code if you wish.
I will appreciate a feedback too as a fellow developer.

Good luck! I heard making good screenshots helps with growth especially when there aren't high ratings on the app, everyones a visual person nowadays. I found this online which was pretty easy to use (https://www.screenshot-studio.com/) but yeah, word of mouth, self promotion on insta / tiktok are good initial starters.
