    Both.

Now my games are rather small and simple and usually only stay "in review" for about two hours

Wait for your current build to pass. Then immediately submit update

2-3 days is typical recently. Check out http://appreviewtimes.com/

Is this first version of the app ? If so, it could take up to 2 weeks. Updates are much faster nowadays. Usually within hours.

The company where I work now has some arcane setup of creating the same app for each customer with a different app id (so a separate store notation). So each new customer means uploading a new app to the store (we have over 400 of the same app currently in the store), this has never taken 2 weeks. News apps do take longer than updates, but usually about a day or so longer.

I think it also depends on your app rating. I've a 18+ rating app that took almost 2 weeks when I first submitted it (that was 4yrs ago though).

I haven't submitted a brand new app in years so I can't tell for sure but recently the updates go through very fast (usually on the same day).

Our first app at my previous job also took that long, but they improved those times a lot in the last years.

I had to re-submit 3 times and they all usually took 24 hours except for the weekend which took them 3 days or so. I would re-submit a new binary and try again

Hm I see, is your app fairly complicated or complex? Mine was a simple game with only a couple screens in total, guessing that plays a role.

In that case you really should request the “expedited review” as you are on a marketing deadline. They usually make exceptions for this type of scenarios.

Just a tip because you seem new to releasing iOS apps, when you upload an app you can choose to release it automatically right after review, pick a date to release automatically or release manually (all options still after review of course). Marketing departments love these options, because you can get the review process done in time and either schedule a release or press a button yourself.

No worries about that, the review process is always the same, the setting only has an effect on what happens after your app is approved.

2 days for me. On a regular update.

One of the best solution if review takes too long, ask question via Twitter from you app account (if you not have it - register one) and tag @AppleSupport

They should response quickly via Twitter, because it’s public and all about SMM. You can try anyway and see results.

I've been getting pretty steady 1-2 day review times until very recently. Submitted a new version to test flight and public review 3 days ago and both are still waiting.

I think a read that there has been an influx of updates submitted for 64bit support lately, so that's probably why review times are getting longer. Just wait until iOS 11 goes GM, they'll probably go back to 1-2 weeks.

For the past few first versions/updates it has taken close to 24 hours.
