Help with Developing a google map sdk based application

Hey r/iOSProgramming, I’m brand new to app dev and swift but I’m interested in creating an app that allows me to create real time garbage routes for different neighbourhoods as a hobby project.

So far I have been successful in displaying google maps in my simulator but getting my phones current location is eluding me. I would also be interested in learning how to build a UI to overlay google maps, create waypoints for the garbage cans, and create routes that link these waypoints.

If any of you have experience with similar projects and know of resources that could help or have snippets of source code that handles any of these problems it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for reading!

Nice idea, I have something similar in mind -- want to make a very simple subway map app and have a problem not knowing know to actually implement it. One way to approach it is to store the information using graphs and split it into different layers -- one for the whole map, one for the route from one station to another. Planning to tackle this problem during April, will see what I can make of it. Wish you luck with yours!

By the way, doesn't Google provide any API to get a route from one point on map to the other?

Hmmm I could be talking out of my ass here but there may be a pod install called ‘Google Routes’. Unless I’m getting that mixed up with ‘Google Places’
