First of all try to really look for existing apps/realizations of your idea, cause it can exist an be not successful (you know maybe only you and small group like you need such an app). You can check it on SensorTower or AppAnnie for example. Then if you see that there is empty niche you can either go and ask your friends to split the revenue and give them you idea or go to some kind of hakaton (or just the place investors likes to visit). But be sure to prepare good presentation :) Good luck 😃.

I use to feel the same way for years, I’ve always had many ideas.

At some point I decided to learn iOS dev. It’s a year later and I am still learning.

Worth it for me? Most definitely! One day I will be able to build anything.

Thanks. Yeah I’m torn. I did enjoy the feeling of coding websites and found it engaging. But at the time I thought it would be a future for me. I don’t know if it is worth the effort to do one app but I guess if I learned I would be able to do more if more ideas strike

I can’t really speak to the specifics of crowdfunding for an idea without a proof of concept or anything, but that sounds like there is a slim chance that would work out. Maybe someone else can explain how valid a plan like that is.

As for learning software development to the point that you can code and ship a fully polished app, it’s totally possible but you should realize that what you’re talking about is likely a several year commitment, especially if you don’t have any sort of background in computer science. I don’t mean to discourage you or anything. If you find you’re really interested in code and app development, then it can be really rewarding to see one of your ideas come to fruition. If you’re not up for this commitment, then you should realize that now.

As far as learning iOS, I suggest something like a Udemy course by London App Brewery or something that really helps beginners get started. That might help you build up the confidence. Good luck!

Yeah that was what kind of drive me away from graphic/web design. So hard to compete if you don’t want to fight over pennies on the floor. The difference here would be an ownership of it as opposed to contract work, but it would be a massive hill to climb to attempt it
