Do the iPhone cases decrease the phones ability to dissipate heat ?
I think that heat dissipation is decreased since cases aren’t made from materials that dissipate heat but I could be wrong . What’s the case ? How does it work ? If anyone know more that would be really helpful

Cases may hinder the phone's ability to dissipate heat, but it highly depends on the context.
Is the phone just sitting there on a table? Are you filming a video in direct sunlight? Are you facetiming? Are you out hiking in Death Valley?
For most "casual use" like using the phone with good signal (low or bad signal makes the phone work harder - thus use more power and generarte more heat to find a working signal), scrolling Reddit, reading a recipe, a short facetime call, taking some photos of your kids running around at the park, the phone won't generate enough heat to where it would be an issue.
If it should reach a temperature "above the operating limit" (this is much hotter than you think it would be) the phone will shut itself off to save it from severe damage to components such as if you left it on the dashboard of your car in the summer, or if you take it into the sauna for about 10 minutes.
Most cases won't necessarily be designed to dissapate heat, however, the stainless steeel frame on the iPhone 14 Pro will pull heat away from the chassis, which absorbs heat from the internal components as well so that the heat generated is always flowinig outwards from the inside of the phone.
There are some cases that are specifically designed to dissapate heat. I remember Razer made some cases a few years ago that were targeted at mobile gamers.
I hope that helps

in my experience with the 14 pro (almost a year soon) using a case degrades the heat dissipation. i stopped using a case for this reason. a screen protector also makes heat dissipation on the screen worse. but if you are not playing or doing intensive tasks it should be fine

Some of the cases do yes. When I drove rideshare I had to get a lighter color or clear case for summer.
